About the authoR

Hi, I’m Clayton Craddock!

John the Lion is more than just a book series—it means the world to me.

It began during a challenging chapter in my life after a contentious divorce. Bedtime wasn't always easy on the nights I had my kids with me. They were really young, navigating the confusion of their parents living apart, and I could see how much they needed comfort and stability.

To ease their minds and bring some joy to those evenings, I started making up fantastical stories—adventures full of imagination wild adventures. Being a musician, I know how to improvise and think on my feet, so I created these crazy stories off the top of my head. I had NO IDEA what would come next or how they would end, but the stories I would tell wowed them; I could tell they were hanging on every word I said all the way to the end. Some were funny, others were scary, but it made things easier during bedtime.

Those moments became our special escape, a way to bond and create something positive amidst the chaos. And to my surprise, those stories became their absolute favorites.

As they grew older, my kids encouraged me to share those tales with the world. They believed in the magic we created together and wanted other kids to enjoy them, too. John the Lion is my way of honoring that time, our bond, and the belief they had in me.

I hope your family finds as much joy in John the Lion as we did. It’s a story that comes straight from the heart, made to spark smiles, inspire dreams, and remind kids that even in tough times, adventure and love can light the way.
